I’ve just returned from a 2000-mile motorcycle trip and now have over 3000 miles with the MotoAirBag V4 airbag coat. In this long-term review, I break down the fit, comfort, storage, and most importantly—safety.

1:01 – Length
1:21 – Hot So Hot
1:44 – Tethering
2:43 – Storage
3:28 – Safety
5:52 – Wrapping Up
My experience:
Fit: tight in the shoulders, roomy in the trunk
Length: fine when seated, too short when standing
Comfort: hot, doesn’t breathe, very stiff
Tethering: takes practice, impossible with gloves
Storage: extremely bulky, fills an entire saddlebag
Safety: the safest vest on the market (EN1621-4 Level 2, 5/5 CRITT SRA rating)
👉 Despite being incredibly safe, I would not buy the MotoAirBag V4. It’s too hot, heavy, and uncomfortable for real-world touring. Instead, I recommend the MotoAirBag V3 vest—it gives you top-tier protection without the drawbacks of the full coat.
If you’re considering an airbag vest for motorcycle touring, watch this review before you buy.
