The North Face Cup, Japan's largest and most famous competition, is open to everyone and is very popular because of the high quality of the problems set by Japan's leading route setters, led by legendary Japanese climber Yuji Hirayama.
After the qualifying rounds are held in various locations throughout Japan, the main competition is held. The level of the competition has been increasing every year, and even the lowest level in the men's division requires the ability to climb V4 onsight in order to advance to the main competition.
