Delhi’s India Gate turned a so-called pollution protest into a disturbing display of Naxal sympathy. Protesters were seen shouting slogans like “Comrade Hidma Amar Rahe” and carrying posters supporting slain Maoist commander Madvi Hidma—responsible for the killing of over 260 security personnel. When Delhi Police instructed the crowd to disperse or move to Jantar Mantar with proper permission, the protesters broke barricades, blocked the India Gate Circle and launched a violent attack using chilli spray against police officers. Several personnel suffered eye injuries and were rushed to RML Hospital. Police have arrested more than 15 protesters and registered serious charges under multiple BNS sections. The incident has raised strong concerns about extremist infiltration into civic demonstrations, exposing how environmental issues are sometimes used as a façade for pro-Naxal propaganda.
This footage highlights a dangerous shift where ideological extremism is being mainstreamed under the guise of activism.
