Philippe V Of Spain - Grandson of Louis XIV: Philippe V of Spain was born in Versailles on December 19, 1683 and died in Madrid, Spain, on July 9, 1746. He was the King of Spain from November 16, 1700 until his death in 1746, with a brief interruption (between January 16 and September 5, 1724) due to the abdication in favor of his son Louis I, who died prematurely on August 31, 1724.

As a great-grandson of Philippe IV, he was the successor of the last monarch of the House of Austria, his great-uncle Charles II, after which he became the first king of the House of Bourbon in Spain. His reign of 45 years and 3 days (split, as already noted, in two separate periods) is the longest in the history of the Spanish monarchy.
