Parliament is finally debating election reforms today but only because the government cleverly diverted the Opposition’s demand for a discussion on the Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls. For months the Opposition has been screaming that SIR is being used to delete genuine voters and add fake ones, yet the ruling side keeps hiding behind “Election Commission is autonomous” while refusing to fix any accountability mechanism.

In the Supreme Court a marathon hearing is on, petitioners are tearing apart the EC’s claims, and the big question staring at everyone is simple: Who will fix the accountability of Election Commission?

DGCA has finally woken up and ordered IndiGo to cut 5% flights because the airline treated the winter schedule like a joke and left lakhs of passengers stranded, but funnily there is still zero fine, zero criminal case, nothing, because apparently enjoying monopoly on 60% of domestic routes comes with permanent immunity.

Same country, same week: the owners of Goa’s Curlies club, the Luthra brothers, whose illegal club killed many when it caught fire, have comfortably flown out of India even after demolition orders and FIRs, proving once again that if you have enough money and the right connections, Indian law is just a speed-breaker you can pay to remove.
