Guy's Slide | A Risky Off Trial Ascent of Mount Lincoln in the White Mountains

Mount Lincoln is a 5,089 foot peak in the White Mountains of New Hampshire. In this video I go off trail to find the elusive Guys Slide, ascending its steep slabs and loose rock, over big exposure.

Mount Lincoln in the White Mountain National Forest is part of the famed and very popular Franconia Ridge! The top offers incredible 360° views of the Pemigewasset Wilderness and Franconia Notch. It is also a New Hampshire 4000 footer!

This ascent route is not a trial, and demands the upmost respect from prospective climbers. It requires backcountry navigation through pure wilderness, bushwhacking experience, rock climbing skills, and extensive route finding on the slabs.

The climb itself ascends ~1200 feet at an average angle of 35°, with the maximum reaching an astounding 50-55°. The rock is a mix of 3rd, and 4th class scrambling up an extremely exposed slab. There is one 5.4 crux in the center slab if one takes the path of most resistance.
