Jazz Trombone and Guitar Duo - Choral

"He enters a monastary, a church, some room of religious significance. A melody sounds; like a shy and careful question, it fills the space of the room. Will the question be answered?
It seems as though the melody finds its peace, even when its end remains open, perhaps like an open door; and the melody is followed by its own improvisation, through the door, to the light outside, and leaves the room behind....."

This is the scene that came to us while working on the piece "Choral", which Wolfgang composed in 2012 during a short stay in the monastery Marienmünster. First performed on our tour to Albania, at the Jazz & World Music Festival there, it is a piece that has since become one of our favourites.

In this video you'll hear and see a version from our concert "Jazz im Weinhof" in Kachtenhausen. A special thank-you goes to Aki Pehlivan, who, with his lighting skills and artistic eye turned a rustic storage room into a magical concert venue. Enjoy!
