Convert your Ultimaker 2+ 3D printer extruder made for 2.85mm filament to more reliably feed 1.75mm filament without buying a new extruder or special roller wheel tension arm! Some UM2+ and clone extruders may have too wide of a gap between the roller and knurled wheels. This lack of tension leads to underextrusion and slipping on long extrusion even when slow, short extrusion appears fine.
The internal ribs inside the casing that the tension arm pushes against can be trimmed to shorten this gap and allow for more grip on 1.75mm filament.
