There's some unusual services that run on the UK's railways and this is one of them.
The line north of Corby to Manton Junction is a handy diversion for East Midlands Railway (EMR) if the main line between Kettering and Leicester is inaccessible for any reason. However, train crews wouldn't be able to take that route unless they ensure they have the route knowledge. So, nearly every day, there is a single working in each direction between London and Melton Mowbray.
The bonus for travellers is that we get to traverse the Welland Viaduct which, at 1,275 yards, is the longest viaduct in the UK. Whilst it is the longest, it is far from being the most famous. I'd put that down to the fact that the viaduct itself and the approach lines are pretty much dead straight, and hence there isn't a very clear view of the structure itself from within the train.
You really have to travel by road to the village of Harringworth to appreciate the size and majesty of the structure.
It is my 1st attempt at doing voiceover. Hope you think it turned out OK. Any feedback good/bad is always appreciated.
