Cruise Night: Motorcycle rider chased by police helicopter for 40 minutes

In Winnipeg, Canada, police monitoring an organized motorcycle Cruise Night on June 3, 2019, spotted a rider doing a catwalk — or a long wheelie, driving with the front wheel off the road — along the city’s famous Portage Avenue. When the traffic cops lit up their lights and siren, the cyclist took off, but the Winnipeg Police Service’s AIR1 helicopter soon picked up its trail and followed its erratic, fast-paced path from the sky for more than 40 minutes as the rider zoomed to speeds of up to 180 kilometres an hour (112 mph). A pair of patrol officers eventually tackled the driver off the bike. Police say a 22-year-old male was charged and released the video as a road safety warning to others.
