In rural Filabusi, even when the Umzingwane River looks completely dry, there is still life beneath the sand. In this video, we show the traditional and practical method our community uses to collect water — scooping it from the sand until it naturally fills up.
This is the reality of rural living in Zimbabwe:
💧 No taps
💧 No boreholes
💧 No running water
Just knowledge passed down for generations — finding water where most people see only dryness.
This technique is used in many parts of rural Africa, where rivers dry up on the surface but still carry clean, filtered water underground. It shows the resilience, ingenuity and survival skills of our communities.
