Rolled R in English: What To Do With Your TONGUE

It's true: American English pronunciation does NOT have a rolled R. Though many other languages will roll their Rs, American English accents (and Americans in general) are famous for having such a hard time rolling their Rs. Why is the rolled R NOT used in English; and, if you are used to using a rolled R when you speak in English, what can you do to stop rolling your R?
