How to Use a Reinforcement Token Board (token economy) for Behaviors

Needing help with keeping your child focused and on task? This token board is a great visual aid for managing behavior and keeping your child on task when working on skills.

A few ways you can use this board:
1. Work on goals and when your child completes a goal they receive a star. Once they reach 5 stars (or however many you chose for your child) then they can have access to that preferred reinforcer that they are working towards.
2. Can be used for completing homework or tasks around the house. (Great way to have your child work for those iPads and electronics)

Tips:
1.When starting out I would only have them work for 2-3 stars (depends on your child). Some children may need that continuous reinforcement after 1 star but still use the visual aid and then work up.
2. Challenge your child but do not make it so difficult that they can not contact reinforcement. We want them to be challenged but also successful. Start small and work up.
3. They choose what they are working for. If they really want it then they will work for it. Best to limit those "preferred reinforcers" so they are more valuable and motivating when you are wanting your child to work.
4. Make it your own if you want. If your child like pizza, they can have pictures of pizza instead of stars. A lot of children like paw patrol. Use paw patrol stickers, or print out paw patrol characters to replace the stars on the token board. Make it your own!
