Day 29 of the Palmetto Trail was 4 miles through woods battling ticks -- 16 on my body and 5 dead in my socks, so the permethrin worked somewhat.
Well one day the Israelites went out to battle against the Philistines and got creamed by them. 4000 of their men were killed. They questioned God as to why and they came up with a "brilliant" idea of bringing the ark of the covenant of the Lord from Shiloh into their camp, kind of like a talisman hoping it would save them from their enemies. To make a long story short it didn't work, Israel was defeated again this time losing 30,000 men including both of Eli's sons, AND the ark was captured by the Philistines. When Eli heard the news he fell over backwards and broke his neck and died.
