Road Trip Driving Route November 2024 Argentina & Uruguay

Our Trans-Americas Journey ( https://trans-americas.com ) began the month of November 2024 Argentina's capital, Buenos Aires and we ended the month at one of Uruguay's most historic Estancias, San Pedro de Timote. In total, we drove xxxx miles (xxxxx km) during March 2024. Here are highlights from our November 2024 road trip in Argentina and Uruguay.

After spending a couple of months in our favorite city in Latin America it was time to hit the road again. We left Buenos Aires and drove to the nearby province of Entre Rios to explore the Jewish Colonies dating back to the 1890's. From the town of Colon, Entre Rios, we crossed into Uruguay with the 102nd border crossing of our Journey.

Our first stop in Uruguay was Grutas del Palacio, listed as a UNESCO Global Geopark. Surprisingly, this was the first time we've encountered this designation even though there are apparently 213 of them in 48 different countries. From there we drove down to Colonia de Sacramento, with it's Historic Quarter that is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, 1 of 3 in Uruguay.

After exploring Colonia we visited the capital of Uruguay, Montevideo for the first time. In addition to exploring the city we spent some time in the surrounding areas visiting wineries and another of Uruguay's UNESCO World Heritage Sites, the Cristo Obrero Church in Atlántida which is an architectural landmark designed in 1958 by the Uruguayan engineer Eladio Dieste.

From Montevideo we continued further along the coast, to La Barra near to the famous resort area of Punta del Este. We ended the month inland from the coast visiting a striking winery hotel, Sacramonte, and ending the month at the historic estancia turned hotel, San Pedro de Timote.
