The National Foundation Day Celebration Parade is an annual event held in Tokyo on February 11 to commemorate the founding of Japan. This day marks the accession of Emperor Jimmu, Japan’s first emperor, and is designated as a national holiday.
The parade is divided into two groups: the marching band, which includes brass bands, color guard, and cheerleaders, and the mikoshi procession. The marching band performs vibrant music and choreography as they march along Omotesando in Harajuku. Meanwhile, the mikoshi procession moves forward with powerful chants while carrying the mikoshi along a different route. Each group follows its own path, both heading towards Meiji Shrine. The event drew a large crowd, including many foreign tourists, creating a lively and festive atmosphere.
