On February 5th, 2025, at approximately 1500hrs, I, Trooper Alex Bratton was traveling south on U.S. 67/167 at the 3-milemarker. I observed a light-colored passenger car approaching me from the rear at a high rate of speed. I used my rear radar to determine the vehicle was traveling 80mph in a 60mph zone. As the vehicle passed me, I looked at the driver and observed he wasn’t wearing his seatbelt as he passed me. I initiated a traffic stop and the vehicle, a silver Mercedes Benz license plate number (AZF25W), pulled to the left shoulder. I made contact with the driver of the vehicle (Farad MUHAMMAD B/M,) and advised him who I was and the reason for the traffic stop. An ACIC/NCIC MUHAMMAD was also unable to provide me with any insurance for the vehicle. While speaking with MUHAMMAD I could smell the odor of marijuana emitting from the vehicle.
I told MUHAMMAD to step out of the vehicle and conducted a search of his person. While searching MUHAMMAD, I asked him how much marijuana was in the vehicle. MUHAMMAD advised he had a roach on the center console of the car and that was what I was smelling. A search of the vehicle was conducted and one small clear baggie of suspected marijuana was located in the center console. In the rear passenger side floorboard, was a dark-colored backpack. The backpack contained a larger amount of loose marijuana, a black digital scale, and approximately 25 other colorful zip-lock baggies for packaging. The total weight of all marijuana was determined to be approximately 150 grams (E-1). MUHAMMAD had the marijuana packaged in six different bags (three small bags, and three big bags). The vehicle was towed by J-Hook Towing and Recovery (20250205152132ASR).
MUHAMMAD was placed under arrest and transported to the Pulaski County Detention Center where he was charged with thefollowing:5-64-436(b)(2)- Possession of Schedule 6 with Purpose to Deliver more than 14g less than 4oz5-64-443- Possession of Drug Paraphernalia27-16-303- Driving on a Suspended Driver’s License27-22-104- No Proof of Insurance27-50-302- Speeding More than 15MPH Over the Speed Limit27-37-702- No Seatbelt All suspected marijuana and paraphernalia were submitted to Troop A Evidence. The suspected marijuana will be submitted to the State Crime Lab for analysis.
