8 BTS Meenakshi Amman Temple, Madurai, | Sabarimala temple yatra information | Tamil Nadu

We started our day by visiting Shri Meenakshi Amman Temple in Madurai. It is a famous Hindu temple dedicated to Goddess Meenakshi, known for its stunning architecture and rich history.

Hotel in Madurai - We started our day in the morning at TTDC Unit 2 - Hotel Tamil Nadu which is the Tamil Nadu government undertaking.

Tariff - Rs 3354 for double occupancy including breakfast for Dec Month.

Meenakshi Temple - After this we visited the famous temple of Madurai, Sri Meenakshi Amman Temple. The temple is known for its stunning architecture, colourful sculptures, and intricate carvings that adorn its walls and towers. Photography and videography are not allowed inside the temple.

There are a total of 14 Gopurams in this temple. Mobile, Camera is prohibited inside the temple.

Meenakshi Amman Temple was built in the Dravidian style Architecture by the Pandya Ruleres ( 1190 - 1205 )

we also had the Darshan of Shiva Temple inside this temple complex.

We also visited the “Thousand Pillars” Temple where we saw the beautiful carvings on the Pillars and many colorful sculptures.

Best Time to Visit this Temple - The best time to visit this temple is any day in the week except Tuesday and Friday. These days the count of visitors to the temple is much higher.

Lunch near the Temple - After this we had our lunch at “Bhagwati Mohans Bhojanalaya” This is a Marawadi food eatery, located at half a km walking distance from the temple

Food Cost - Bhindi Sabzi - Rs 150
Kadhi - Rs 120
Basundi - Rs 40

Overall, I enjoyed the food at this Restaurant.
