Panning For Gold In Material From A Hematite Stained Shear Zone!

A 15m wide shear zone, with heavy hematite staining over a 3m by 3m area contains mostly magnetite, pyrite, with very minor chalcopyrite and a little fine gold. We remove some ore samples and some of the deteriorated material and pan it to view the concentration of minerals. Magnetite and pyrite are the primary sulfides with small amounts of copper sulfides and free mill gold seen in one of three gold pans done.
