"Dies Initium" (Latin) translates to "As the Day Begins"
This piece is in four mini-movements:
"Nocturnal Creatures"
"Meditation on Harmonies of a Lake's Reflection"
"The Wind of the Witching Hours"
"The First Glimpse of the Sun"
NB: I am not a string player, nor am I a professional composer
Inspired by nature (evident in the movements which are chronological in time), this is my first large-scale piece performed by a professional ensemble. I was very fortunate to be commissioned a piece for string quartet to be performed in a contemporary music event.
My inspirations for this piece include Salvatore Sciarrino, George Enescu, Arnold Schoenberg, Maurice Ravel, Alexander Scriabin, Iannis Xenakis and Gyorgy Ligeti.
