WCU INCOMPARABLE Golden Rams Marching Band- Collegiate Marching Band Festival 2018

The West Chester University INCOMPARABLE Golden Rams Marching Band presents their 2018 field show "The Traveler". Based on the Robert Frost poem "The Road Not Taken", this year’s program examines the process related to the choices that we make throughout our lives. In part 1, “The Choice”, music from Leonard Bernstein’s “On the Waterfront” sets the scene as two paths emerge before our traveler, who must decide which path to take. Part 2, “Internal Conflict”, features David Maslanka’s “Symphony No. 4” as the traveler reflects on the decision and wonders what could have been. In part 3, “That Lonesome Road”, the classic James Taylor hit expresses the loneliness that can come from the choices we make in life. Next, in part 4, “Acceptance” grows out of the loneliness in a grabbing percussion arrangement of Karl Jenkins’s “Palladio”. In the finale, “Joy”, Maslanka’s 4th symphony returns to celebrate how taking the road less traveled can make all the difference.

This year, the Incomparable Golden Rams Marching Band has been invited to perform in featured exhibition at the 2018 Bands of America Grand National Championships at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, Indiana. In addition to many thousands of marching band fans across the country that will view the performance live, the Incomparable Golden Rams Marching Band will serve as the gold standard of collegiate marching ensembles as the event is streamed nationally and internationally via the FloMarching platform.
