Prokaryotic transcription and RNA polymerase in general doesn’t require help. However, it usually encounters template issues such as secondary structures. In such cases, the transcription pauses and ternary complex stalls in place. To avoid such events and possibly to regulate them, certain transcription factors are required. This video discusses three such factors.
