Junk journal “Verzen” (SOLD)

She is approximately 23 x 17 x 5,5 cm. (9,2 x 6 x 2 inch)

The cover is made with the cover and spine of an antique poetry book “Verzen” by P.C. Boutens (1918). The inside cover is made of rust dyed cotton fabric and to reinforce the spine I used a upholstery fabric. I left the cover plain, because the color is just gorgeous with “Art Nouveau” style embellishments and title in gold. The closure wraps around the journal and is made with a vintage copper ornament that is attached with a copper wire bezel and Miyuki sead beads on a piece of coffee dyed lace and rust dyed cotton fabric. It closes with strings.

On the inside of the front cover is a double pocket. Inside the pocket is the page of the antique book showing the title and the year it was published.

The journal has 3 signatures (appr. 172 pages). The edges of the pages are grunged up with inks and coffee. For the pages I chose a lot of different types of paper and texture. I used antique pages of the antique book, coffee dyed paper, pages from a vintage photo album of handmade paper, sheer pages glassine paper from a vintage photo album, vellum, pages an antique German book as other pages from antique books, antique music sheets, pages from an antique atlas, handmade paper, pages from a coloring book, watercolor paper, vintage envelopes, canvas sheets on which I painted flowers, images and pages from vintage botanical and art books. The journal has a gorgeous textured and layered look, because of all the different sizes of pages, materials and textures of the pages.

Embellishments like pockets antique and vintage book pages, lace, stamping, stenciling, belly bands, lace pockets, fabric tabs, clusters, embossed card stock, machine stitching, hand stitched handmade paper, vintage playing cards, vintage first day cover envelopes, journal cards embellished with cooper wire and beads, hidden paperclip, magnetic paperclip with Art Nouveau image, bulb pins with charms attached to the fabric tabs.

Although the journal is heavily embellished with lots of ephemera, it has plenty of space for journaling or your own art creations.
