Greetings TourLifers,
On this week's episode of Driving Home, we dig into a few aesthetic repairs to get our beautiful Dodge class C motorhome ready for full time living.
We started with a deep cleaning. The restroom had filled with leaves, dirt and debris from sitting without a vent cover for 5 years. There were also a couple places where water damage had destroyed the ceiling and veneer of the interior walls. The previous owner had already started the repairs, but the framing needed to be secured better and attached to the actual frame instead of resting on top of the cabinets.
After securing a couple new 2x2's to strengthen the infrastructure, we installed new veneer to finish the look. The cabinets had begun to sag, so we used a floor jack to lift them back up and secured their position with a couple of L brackets from the hardware store.
Once the ceiling panel was back up, we cut the ventilation hole for the AC and used the wiring diagram on the back of the control unit help us wire the control back to the AC.
After a run through the rest of the propane, waste and water systems, the Establishment was ready for full time adventure. The working amenities included fridge, stove, hot water heater, toilet, shower and AC.
We listed the rig on FB market for $2k, sold it that day to a bold young adventurist and saw him off in proper Tour Life style.
Thanks for tuning in to this week's episode. Make sure to subscribe for new adventures every week and as always, hit us in the comments for any questions, critiques or just to say hello :)
Until next week,
Matt & Eric
