明太祖朱元璋（1328年10月21日－1398年6月24日），或稱洪武帝，明朝開國皇帝，原名朱重八，曾改名朱興宗，投軍被郭子興取名元璋，字國瑞，出生地之爭由來已久，有明光說（也就是盱眙說、嘉山說）、鳳陽說（也就是鍾離說）、句容說、五河說、沛縣說、宿州說等。後四說基本上沒有證據支持，經不住推敲，明顯不能成立。爭議主要出現在明光和鳳陽之間。廟號“太祖”，諡號“開天行道肇紀立極大聖至神仁文義武俊德成功高皇帝”，統稱“太祖高皇帝”。在位三十一年，因年號洪武也俗稱洪武帝。


朱元璋出身貧農家庭，幼時貧窮，曾為地主放牛。後因災變，曾一度剃髮出家，四出流浪，化緣為生，25歲（1352年）時，參加郭子興領導的紅巾軍反抗蒙元政權。先後擊敗了陳友諒、張士誠等其他諸侯軍閥，統一南方，後北伐滅元，建立大一統的封建皇朝政權，國號“大明”。

In the 31st year of his reign, Hongwu was also commonly known as Emperor Hongwu because of his reign.

Zhu Yuanzhang was born in a poor peasant family and was poor when he was a child. Later, due to catastrophe, he once shaved his family, wandered around and made a living. At the age of 25 (1352), he joined the Red Scarf Army led by Guo Zixing to resist the Mongolian Yuan regime. Successively defeated other warlords such as Chen Youliang and Zhang Shicheng, unified the south, and later defeated the Yuan Dynasty in the north, and established a unified feudal dynasty regime under the name "Da Ming".
