On a sailing vessel there comes the moment where a hatch starts leaking. This is the moment when it is time to either replace ("nope") or to repair it ("yes").
Sailormen are craftsmen and do-it-yourself (DIY) gods so here is the step-by-step guide of how the seal a leaking hatch.
Starting from removing the hatch and the old sealing up to preparing and resealing the hatch properly again.
Following tools are being used:
Cutter knife aka boxcutter
Dremel with wire brush attachment
Drilling machine or electric drill with wire brush attachment
Bin bag
Sikaflex 521 UV
Cartridge gun (good one recommended)
Kitchen paper towel
Wooden spatula
Tape
Gloves
Glass cleaner
Cardboard to work on
Some weight to put on the glass after glueing (I used 3 x 5kg canisters)
For not dying of thirst: Something to drink. I used a Radler Croatian version (mixture of lemonade and beer) :-)
