Production Plan for Mustard Varieties (Super Raya, AARI Canola, Khanpur Raya)

Sowing and Crop Establishment:
Varieties:

Super Raya
AARI Canola
Khanpur Raya These are popular mustard varieties that perform well under Punjab conditions and are known for high oil content and disease resistance.
Sowing Time:

Optimal sowing time is mid-October to early November for these varieties.
Seed Rate:

Use 2-2.5 kg/acre for optimal plant density.
Sowing Method:

Drill sowing is recommended for uniform plant distribution. Maintain a row-to-row distance of 30 cm (12 inches).
Fertilizer Application Plan:
At Sowing:

1 bag of DAP (Di-Ammonium Phosphate) and 1 bag of SOP (Sulphate of Potash) should be applied during sowing to ensure early root development and provide essential nutrients.
35 Days After Sowing:

Apply 1 bag of Ammonium Sulfate to supply nitrogen and sulfur, which are critical for vegetative growth and overall plant health.
At Flowering Stage:

Apply half bag of Urea to promote flowering and seed formation.
Foliar Spray (at Vegetative and Flowering Stages):
Conduct foliar spray of a balanced nutrient solution containing micronutrients like Boron, Zinc, and Iron at both vegetative and flowering stages. This helps improve nutrient uptake, enhances plant vigor, and boosts yield potential.
Irrigation:
Mustard is moderately drought-tolerant but responds well to irrigation.
First Irrigation: Apply at 3-4 weeks after sowing.
Subsequent Irrigations: Additional irrigations are necessary during critical stages such as branching, flowering, and pod filling, especially if rainfall is insufficient.
Weed and Pest Management:
Weeding: Conduct one or two weedings to ensure that the mustard crop is free from competition.
Pest Control: Monitor for aphids, the most common pest in mustard. If infestation occurs, timely spraying with recommended insecticides is essential.
Harvesting:
Harvest when 70-80% of the pods turn yellow. Delay in harvesting may result in pod shattering and yield loss.
