Crafted for Courage is a public art and fundraising movement in support of women who have experienced violence. On May 10th, 2025, the first edition of the project transformed the lobby of Place Ville Marie in Montreal with an installation of over 300 handmade blankets, each crafted from thousands of knitted and crocheted squares donated by volunteers from across Canada.
Brought to life by a grassroots network of makers, organisers, and supporters, Crafted for Courage raised nearly $70,000 for four Montreal-based organisations doing life-changing work every day:
Auberge Shalom pour femmes
Chez Doris
Fondation Chaînon
Native Women’s Shelter of Montreal
Every blanket is a statement of solidarity, a token of hope, and a step toward creating a future rooted in care and community. Together, we’re crafting change—one stitch at a time.

The term “nota bene” stems from the Latin “note well” and is often used to call attention to particularly important details or information being shared.
The N.B. Nota Bene Foundation was founded by Nori Bortoluzzi and—inspired by the shared initials—embodies the spirit of "nota bene," urging us to pay keen attention.
We believe in the power of taking note and taking action. Our goal is to catalyse positive change through innovative projects and community collaboration.
We don't just observe; we actively listen, learn, and lead.
