Modern Israel 2026 (מדינת ישראל in Hebrew, دولة اسرائيل in Arab) was founded in 1948. On May 14, 1948, David Ben-Gurion proclaimed the establishment of the State of Israel. Israel is, and has always been, a holy land where three world religions Judaism, Christianity and Islam have their foundation. Due to the importance and the strategic position of Israel it has always been occupied by foreign forces and empires, subsequently Babylonia, Assyria, Persia, Egypt, Hellenistic Empires, Byzantine Empire, Arabian Khalifats, Ottoman and the British Empire. Today Israel has a population of almost 10 million. The capital city is Jerusalem and the second most important city is Tel Aviv.

On 7 October 2023, when Hamas launched a surprise attack on Israel, the Gaza war begon. Hamas killed 1,200 Israelis and kidnapped and 251 people were abducted.
