Stop Puppy Barking for Food with a calm feeding routine you can do at home—no shouting, just patience and clear steps.
SUPPORT: Includes hand feeding, interval timing, apartment-friendly tips. Trainer: Bhaskar Chauhan — Certified True2Life®™ L3 International Dog Trainer, Certified Dog Behavior & Aggression Consultant, Certified Therapy Dog Trainer, Certified Canine Nutritionist.
In this video, Bhaskar shows a simple, humane plan to stop “demand barking” at mealtimes and build impulse control—perfect for Indian homes and apartments.
What you’ll learn:
• Core rule: Calm = Food. Hold the bowl/food and wait for your puppy to sit quietly. The moment she settles, mark it (“yes/good girl”) and give just one kibble—not the whole meal.
• Micro-portions, not a full bowl. Feed a piece, then wait again. Repeat. Your puppy learns that patience turns the food on.
• “EMI” intervals. Start with ~10 seconds between pieces, then stretch to 15–20 seconds. Mix food and verbal praise (10s food → 10s praise → 10s food) so you can gradually pay less with food.
• Positioning + blocking. Keep the bowl on your right side, use your left hand to gently block, and stand parallel to your dog. Lower the bowl only while she’s calm; if she jumps/barks, lift the bowl and reset.
• Between‑paws placement. If lowering the bowl makes her pop up, place a few kibbles between the front paws while she remains seated, then try again. • Step back if needed. Any barking, jumping, pawing, or nibbling = you went too fast. Go to the previous step and rebuild calm.
• Quick hack (no time): Put the bowl up high and leave the room. Return when she’s quiet and feed. Helpful for busy days, but the full plan teaches better manners.
Safety & tips: • No shouting, no physical corrections. Be gentle; just remove access and wait for calm. • Keep sessions short; use normal kibble; avoid slippery floors and crowding.
• Practice daily. As calm builds, mealtimes become quiet and easy—even in apartments.
Tools: regular kibble/meal, bowl, optional mat.
