My recreation of the song "The Living Daylights" by Norwegian synth-pop band a-ha. The song was written by the band's guitarist and primary songwriter Pål Waaktaar (currently known under the name Paul Waaktaar-Savoy) for the 15th official James Bond movie The Living Daylights (1987), which featured Timothy Dalton's debut as agent 007.
The original song features lead vocals from Morten Harket, electric and acoustic guitar (as well as backing vocals) from Pål Waaktaar, several synthesizer tracks (most likely written using the Yamaha DX-7, Roland Juno 60, and PPG Wave 2.2) from Magne Furuholmen, bass guitar by Randy Hope Taylor, alto saxophone by Simon C. Clark, and drums by Mike Sturgis.
Since John Barry added several layers of orchestral instruments (mostly string and brass), and tweaked the song a little to fit the mood of a James Bond movie, the famed Bond movie composer also shares songwriting credit.
An alternate version of the song (closer to the original more synthpop-based rather than orchestral demo) was featured on a-ha's third studio album Stay on These Roads, which came out in 1988.
The track was recreating using emulators of the aforementioned, as well as IK Multimedia's Philharmonic.
All original songwriting rights belong to Pål Waaktaar and John Barry.
