About Javier:
Javier López Escalona is a cellist born in Cádiz in 1996, he started his music and piano studies when he was 7 years old with Miguel Monge Magistris, and violoncello at the age of 8 with Olga Tarasova in Málaga. He won a position in 2014 in the class of Aldo Mata at the Superior Conservatory of Castilla y León finishing his studies with honors.
In 2016, he received the prizes for Best String Performer and the Third Prize in the final in the 15th edition of the ``Intercentros Melómano Contest´´ competition for the spanish Conservatories, prizes that impulsed his career as a soloist at the national level. He was also finalist in the competition Young promises of the cello in Spain.
He has received classes of musicians such as: Jaap ter Linden, Raphael Wallfisch, Kristin von der Goltz, Jordi Savall, Lucia Swarts, Imre Rohmann, Carmina Quartet of Zürich, Akademie für Alte Musik Berlin, Freiburger Barock orchester, Casals Quartet, Tonhalle Orchester Zürich, Giorgio Mandolesi or Beat Schäfer.
Playing as a soloist, he has appeared with groups such as: Sinfonietta Zürcher Oberland, ZHdK Barock Orchester, Baroque Orchestra of Salamanca, Ensemble TaCoS, Youth Orchestra Muñoz Molleda.
He has offered concerts in Spain, France, Germany, Switzerland, Italy, Holland and Belgium in prestigious concert halls such as Tonhalle Maag, Giglio Theater in Lucca, City of Luigi Boccherini, CAEM, Auditorium Bordeaux, Muziekgebouw (Cello Biennale 2018), Foundation Hindemith (Blonay), Toni Areal (Cello Day ZHdK 2018), Kloster Michaelstein Stiftung (Blankenburg).
He has played in festivals in wich also participated names as: Jordi Savall, Jean-Guihen Queyras, Mischa Maisky, Roel Dieltiens, Kian Soltani, Raphael Wallfisch, Nicolas Alstaedt or Giovanni Sollima.
In 2018 ``The Amsterdammer´´ (Holland) described his playing as: ``Working with impressive spirit '', his interpretation of the Ricercare VII by Domenico Gabrielli caused much interest and comments such as ``Magnific and Hipnotic´´ (``Montecoronado´´, Spain).
He plays as the first cello for ZHdK Barock Orchester and also as a modern cellist for Giraud Ensemble de Zürich, City lights Orchestra in Luzern.
In December 2018 he writes the article ``El Violonchelo en 60 minutos´´ for Melómano magazine focusing on his project based on the history of the cello and the HIP interpretation, the article is in the section of the magazine ``Lives, Facts and other matters´´.
He is founder of the ensemble Ricercando l'ignoto, which is dedicated to rescue forgotten music and also has its own radio program on various artistic topics and its goal is to spread the art to all types of audiences.
Currently, he studies with Roel Dieltiens and Martin Zeller in Zürcher Hochschule der Künste, he plays a cello Hornsteiner in Mittenwald in 1791 loaned by the ZHdK. He obtained scholarships for his studies by the Lyra Foundation, the Elsy Meyer Foundation ...He is the founder of the project ``El Violonchelo en 60 minutos'' and ``El Violonchelo barroco español en 60 minutos´´.
