This morning we have a lovely breakfast at the Serena hotel in Peshawar Pakistan and check out of our beautiful room. We meet our driver and guide in the parking lot and make our way towards Islamabad for our flight to Kabul that afternoon. We stop at the Peshawar bus station which was truly an amazing experience with incredible jingle buses everywhere. We then stopped for a tea at the bus station which was an amazing experience. Next we get gas and head to lunch which was amazing. During lunch our driver shows me how to wrap my turban for our trip to Afghanistan. We arrive at the Istanbul airport and say goodbye to our fabulous guide Kausar and driver. We head to our gate and with great anticipation and for our Kamair flight to Kabul. We have a meal on board which wasn't too bad and the service was great. We arrive in Kabul after about an hour and a half flight in the dark of night. We head into customs and immigration and meet the Taliban for the first time. They were extremely professional and friendly and helpful. We had to fill out all sorts of complicated forms in order to go through immigration. Obviously there was no filming there. We were the only westerners on the flight. Finally, we make it through immigrations and head out of the airport which is completely deserted by the time we were finished. We really had absolutely no idea where to go and just kind of followed where we saw other people headed earlier. We eventually made our way out of the airport and into the front entrance where there's a huge lit up I LOVE AFGHANISTAN sign. We went a little bit further and finally found our driver and guide. There's literally no access with vehicles anywhere near the front entrance of the airport in Kabul. After loading up our luggage we head into Kabul which was an amazing experience seeing all of the huge lit up wedding halls and businesses. Kabul, Afghanistan is a very beautiful and vibrant city. We were very hungry and looking for a place to eat and I spotted a pizza place called Slice that we pulled into and had and really interesting pizza. We then head over to the Park Star Hotel and check in for the night to get ready for our morning trip to Bamyan.
