So this was my second try pouring onto a terracotta pot. This time I added iridescent medium to all the colours and it looks beautiful... I also used a new torch aka flame thrower and I'm sure it nearly burnt everything within a 5 metre radius! Lesson learned - don't use the tradies tools!
