Arunachal Pradesh, gateway to tranquillity. It is the second time we travel to Arunachal Pradesh in northeastern India. It is a state still undiscovered as a touristic destination. We love it for its breathtaking beauty, rich cultural diversity and enormous hospitality of its inhabitants. Located in the Eastern Himalayas Arunachal Pradesh is known for its majestic mountains, dense forests, and vibrant tribal communities. This video shows the second part of our journey with Bully as our guide (BAC Voyages/ https://iato.in/members/view/2496) and Surez as our driver.
We leave Ziro and drive in two long days via Dibrugarh to Miau. I have no scripts for my videos. I let the events come to me and film daily life as it presents itself to us in all its beauty. Along the way we stop where we see something interesting and share it with you. I hope I make the right choices.
We visit, as always - we love it - various weekly markets and to our surprise we come across a group of 4 ceremonial Hindu cars in Assam with sacred cows that are very special because they have a few extra legs on their bodies. A colourful spectacle. The priest gives us an extensive explanation of his mission.
At the Buddhist temple in Choephelling Tibetan Refugee settlement camp in Miao Arunachal Pradesh we attend a Losar ceremony (Buddhist New Year). A spectacular happening, colourful, full of dance and symbolism; the evil events of the year are shot and thrown away, ending with a cracking firework display.
From Miau we drive to Vijayanagar. Vijayanagar is the most remote town in the Changlang district. It is bordered to the south and east by Myanmar, and to the north by a thick forest of the Namdapha National Park. Namdapha National Park is a large protected. The park was established in 1983. With over 1,000 floral and about 1,400 animal species, it is a biodiversity hotspot in the Eastern Himalayas. Crossing the Namdapha National Park is an experience. Beautiful views, great forests, winding roads and small agricultural settlements where the inhabitants are all equally friendly. At night it was very cold in our simple homestay in Vijayanagar and the trekking we did was tough, but very worthwhile. We crossed the rivers on hanging bridges that were sturdy but certainly did not look that way. If you have the opportunity: visit Arunachal Pradesh, visit Vijayanagar.
