Introduction to ISO 13849: Machine Safety

Today I will be going through the basics of functional safety in automation equipment. I will be talking about standards ISO 13849-1 and EN 62061 which define the process to meet the machine directive as a part of obtaining the CE mark. More than that, these guidelines help you make machines that will prevent a lot of injuries even fatalities. This will be an introduction to these standards and an overview of some of the technology Siemens employs to help you meet these standards.
