Month 3 of The Director Project is all about the internet's favourite (or least favourite?) blockbuster auteur, Christopher Nolan. For my part, I shine a light on one of Nolan's least celebrated movies, 2002's Insomnia. All too often dismissed as just a pretty decent mystery-thriller, this video essay looks at just how crucial Insomnia was in Nolan's evolution from hip indie director to seasoned studio filmmaker. Includes contextualization within Nolan's filmography and comparison to the original Nordic version of Insomnia.
