The Toxic Web of Doom

The Pacific Golden Orb Weaver Spider is a very large beautifully coloured spider. It's a spider which doesn't go unnoticed and not just because of it's colourful appearance and size but also the fact that it makes extremely large webs which are capable of catching small vertebrates such as birds and these webs can be strung up to 20ft in the air between trees!

However, the really fascinating thing about this garden orb weaver spider such as Trichonephilia. plumipes (found from Australia to Indonesia and some Pacific Islands) and T. clavipes (found from North to South America) is the fact that their webs are actually deadly poisonous to insects!
