What a strange vehicle to put on a lift!
With nothing in the bed, the truck is probably nose heavy. (I have no weight scale to calculate the weight distribution) I understand the engine is weighty but have no reference of the cab. The cab is pretty thin metal so it can't be that heavy...
I figured as long as I put the motor and tranny in between the arms I'd be all set.
The suggestion to strap the leaf spring to the lift arm is a good safety measure to take if you are going to be a bit rough with whatever you're doing under the truck.
I had it half assed strapped around both sides. It should probably be strapped tighter.
For future needs if I was just doing routine maintenance I could probably pass on the strap but do so at your own risk. I'm just some guy that does stuff and things, what do I know? Do what you think is right for you.
