Walking through South Portland there is something interesting to be stumbled upon walking down Corbett Avenue. For a few blocks south of its intersection with Nebraska Street the street splits in two, traveling at two different elevations. Upon first glance one might ask, “Why is this like that?”
In this video I address that question in something I’ve wanted to cover for fun for a while now. It’s long been presumed this break in the street was streetcar related… but there are other factors at play. This is the story of the Corbett Avenue ramp.
