Duolingo Went Full AI… But Forgot to Teach.

Duolingo recently announced they’re “AI First”. That move sidelined many of their human course creators — and the result? Confusing dialogues, broken progressions, and a lot of frustrated learners. The heart of language was lost.

Over the past few months I’ve been building something I believe is a genuine step forward in how we learn languages — especially the complex ones: Thai, Chinese, Vietnamese, and other tonal or script-heavy languages that most platforms don’t really “get”.

This week, after months of building, refining, and integrating, I had a bit of a eureka moment. I’ve brought together my AI engine, voice tech (using real TTS from the best platforms out there), and a toolkit I’ve built from the ground up over years of teaching — all working together in one platform.

What makes it different?

It adapts in real time to you — your background, your level, the path you’re on. Instead of forcing every learner through the same static “course”, it builds the learning experience dynamically, evolving with each step you take.

I also show you how to bring your own API keys from OpenAI and Google so you control the AI and voice costs and not have to pay a premium monthly subscription to try and cover stuff you may or may not use. This means rich, personalised learning without breaking the bank — or compromising on quality.

This is just a sneak peek. The platform is still growing, but what it’s already doing — I’ve never seen anywhere else.
