How Japan Celebrates New Years here are some Traditional Japanese New Year Customs to welcome in the New Year !
1.) Osechi - food for good fortune and Ozoni depends on region in Japan how they eat their ozoni ! In Kansai they use White miso for ozoni soup! Ozoni brings good fortune!!
2. ) hatsumode First shrine visit of the year
3.) amuelet -new year amuelet - good luck charm and you can also do omikuji can actually be drawn anytime you visit a shrine or temple, not just for New Year
Os New Year (Oshögatsu) offerings
Common at kamidana (home Shinto altar)
Kagami mochi
Rice, sake, salt, or seasonal foods
Sometimes osechi items
