Back in its heyday, the Sumitomo Rubber plant in Tonawanda, NY was one of my favorite locations to fly my drone over because of the Buffalo Southern's contract switching operations, and the old Alco switchers and GE critters they used. In this video, we'll look back to 2024 at one of those times where the switching crew used their primary GE 45 Tonner to move hoppers of carbon black around the plant, before comparing it to now, almost a year after the shutdown, where minor truck activity continues but rail activity remains stagnant at the shuttered tire plant!
