DARIUS TWIN - Super Nintendo - Sony Trinitron | Classic Hardware | Playthrough

Darius Twin is a SNES-exclusive entry into the Darius arcade shoot em' up series originally introduced by Taito in 1987. This version is slightly different than its arcade predecessors, most notably in the weapon and shield powerup systems, screen display, and overall difficulty. Unlike its arcade counterparts, the display fits natively in the 4:3 aspect ratio common to home TVs while also offering a slightly easier difficulty curve as players are able to recover their weapons after losing a life. Still, the game only allows the player a single credit to beat the entire game, with a maximum configurable life count of 8 available in the options menu. I'm not ashamed to say that I used all 8 to beat the game during this playthrough (give me a break, I'm not ‪@PEG‬).

I have grown to really enjoy this game over the years and now consider it one of the best home console shooters of its day. The difficulty is on point but fair, and with enough practice, players can see the ending for themselves. That said, I did cheese it a bit on the last level to avoid the octopi which can easily ruin an overwise decent playthrough.

Give this one a shot if you've never had a chance to try it out in the past.
