I needed a thing I could do that would help me skills build + pull out the mediums that are languishing in boxes + try new mediums, so I decided to try this:
1) Pull a card from @SarahRenaeClark's collection of Color Cubes (more here: • Introducing the Color Cube! ).
2) Find those colours in my stash (this first video, I used gouache), or mix them up where necessary. The goal is to get close-ish. I'm not trying to stress myself out here.
3) Swatch and label on the left hand facing side of the journal
4) Paint a little something using those colours on the right hand facing side of the journal.
5) Do a little journaling once I'm done.
This may morph a bit because I'm thinking that once I've done the initial exploratory "painted doodle" as I did this time, I might want to do something more thought out and composed (tea cups? Florals? Little portraits? Some combination of those?), but for now, this is what I've got.
This video includes a timelapse. Patrons will get longer versions because my Patrons love to body-double with me while I faff about in the studio. ;) Find me at / effywild
