In this lesson, you will learn how to write the equation of any circle located in the xy plane and with any radius. We will use the standard form of the equation of a circle to graph the circle in the xy plane.
The center of the circle is read off of the equation by reading the shifted values of the x and y variables. The radius is read off of the right hand side of the equation. The circle is the most fundamental of the conic sections. By learning how to graph circles, we will be able to learn about the other conic sections - Ellipse, Parabola, and Hyperbola.
