"In March of 2020, the entire world turned upside down. We got stuck here between four walls, without an audience, concerts, and work. Suddenly, everything was terribly cramped, scary, and hopeless. For a while, I didn't even feel like taking the instrument in my hand, the days went by aimlessly, I had everything taken down and put back up in the house, made reparations, packed things, and rearranged them Then somehow, I’m not saying it was easy, but peace and silence have moved in, instead of despair. In this silence old fragments of melodies that had not been played for a thousand years have found their way back into my mind. I got back to the cello and started giving online concerts so we could be close again, even if there was distance between us. And something happened that I would not have dared to dream of, especially in the middle of such a desperate period, I found a new friend. The concert somehow reached Boston, USA, to the ears of José Elizondo, a Mexican-born composer who, like us, spent his days confined in his home. If our lives had been running at normal speed, we would probably never have met. Exchange of messages, then long phone conversations emerged from the random “encounter” and José’s wonderful compositions inked themselves into my heart. Maybe that is exactly what José’s composition, The Dawn of Hope is about. About these wonderful humane moments that bring hope even in such difficult times…. "
