One Day Hike to Dhooni Water Spring – Chiltan Mountains, Quetta

The mountains of Quetta, including Chiltan, Takatu, Murdar, and Zarghoon, surround the valley like a natural fortress. They are not only rich in geological history but also famous for their breathtaking beauty, hiking trails, and diverse wildlife. These rugged ranges provide stunning views, fresh mountain air, and a serene escape for nature lovers and adventurers alike.

Hiking adventures are journeys that take you into the heart of nature, where every trail offers new challenges and breathtaking views. They bring a sense of freedom, discovery, and connection with the land. Each step tests endurance, builds resilience, and rewards you with peace, fresh air, and unforgettable memories along the way.

Our adventure took us deep into the rugged Chiltan Mountains, just outside Quetta City, where we completed a challenging 45–50 km trail. The highlight of the hike was reaching “Dhooni Water Spring”, a tiny fresh water source that still trickles despite the long dry spell in the area. Though small, it was a refreshing sight in the barren landscape, reminding us how precious water is in the mountains and how deeply nature depends on rain.

The spring lies about 22 km from one side, making it a true milestone for hikers. Around this spot, a group of local adventurers once planted trees, adding life and shade to the rugged slopes. This gesture stands as a symbol of hope against the harsh climate. Though this year’s low rainfall has left the mountains dry, the landscapes still offered breathtaking views, rugged cliffs, and the quiet beauty that only the Chiltan range can provide.

The journey tested our endurance but gifted us with unforgettable memories — a blend of nature, resilience, and the spirit of adventure.
