Disclaimer---I don't know why the first half of this video is so shaky.
When I began shooting video of local railroads in the mid '90s, I tried to record as much as I could since nothing stays the same forever. Now in 2020, we see how true that is. This video comes from two different evenings in Chillicothe in September 1998 showing the Iowa Interstate BUSW, the Rocket, one northbound with double stack containers.
The first shot is the Northbound seen passing the old Rock Island depot pulled by Geeps 406 and 407 bracketing SD20 101. I don't know why I couldn't hold the camera steady, but this is the only video I have that proves this equipment ran on the Peoria branch. I have another, but you can't see anything in it that proves it's on this track.
A couple days later, I'm set up with my tripod on the depot platform to watch the southbound Rocket pass, but without any container traffic this time. Check out the old Chillicothe Police car! Two locomotives pull the short train tonight, ex GM&O GP38AC 625 and GP10 431.
