Hidden Cave, Cold Swim & A Night Alone in the Glen Nevis Forest

I spent 24 hours exploring a lesser-known side of Glen Nevis, climbing through thick bracken to reach a hidden cave with a dark history, swimming in one of the old water sources for the glen, and walking alone through the forest in the dark to camp near the long-abandoned village of Tollie, in the hills between the Glen and Blarmachfoldach.
Steep hills, ticks, cold water, wire bridges, spiders in my tent, and a very peaceful morning with spicy eggs!
Glen Nevis is famous for Ben Nevis and Steall Falls, but this is the version I know best - the quiet paths, the forgotten places, and the feeling of being completely alone in a landscape that’s full of history.
